Notes
Paul's performance for "MTV Unplugged" was a memorable one for a number of reasons. It was the last time Paul performed with Richard Tee (who died in late-1992). It was the first time "Unplugged" had to be recorded in a large movie soundstage, Paul's touring band proving too large for most other recording venues. It was also the last concert of the "Born At The Right Time" tour, and thus the final appearance of Paul's ever-present "juju" doll.

The performance is spirited, and it seems as if Paul and the band had a sense that this would be their final performance together. Ray Phiri, Tony Cedras, Steve Gadd and Richard Tee are on fire this evening, and Paul seems to be very happy throughout. The percussionists give a boisterous performance. Tee's soulful piano work on "Bridge" is very moving. The only mark of error on this CD is that it was sourced from video and is somewhat compressed. Still, it's a helluva show - a postcard of Paul with one of his finest bands.
